Global Issues on The Kovacs Perspective Tonight

Tonight on The Kovacs Perspective, hosted by +Steve Kovacs, we've got something very special lined up for you. We're taking on some international issues tonight. The live broadcast airs at 9 PM eastern time, so be sure to tune in here, especially if you have any questions for our guests. You can also e-mail those questions to info@thekovacsperspective.com at any time before or during the show.

Our first guest, +Peggy Kelsey, will be on to talk about her recent book, Gathering Strength: Conversations with Afghan Women, and the challenges facing modern Afghan women. Considering the volatile state the country is in right now, these women are facing some very unique difficulties. Gathering Strength is a photo-essay that documents interviews with a wide variety of women in Afghanistan, including artists, educators, athletes, medical professionals, politicians and former refugees. They provide a very unique perspective on the life they life there, and what it means to be a woman in Afghanistan right now.

Peggy Kelsey is an international photographer recognized for her visual presentations on Afghanistan, Afghan women, and human rights. She and her photo exhibit, “Afghan Women: Portraits and Stories,” have toured universities and colleges in Ohio, New Jersey, Wyoming, Florida, Nevada, North Carolina, New York, and Texas.

Our second guest, +Brett Braaten, is a retired federal agent following a 29-year career with the US Customs Service and the Department of Homeland Security. He's the author of Homeland Insecurity: Failed Politics, Policies, and a Nation at Risk, which draws back the curtain on the vast federal law enforcement bureaucracy, including Homeland Security, plus family and corporate safety.  It's a rare glimpse behind the scenes of agency responses to politics and policies that impact national security, sovereignty, and the economy.

Brett Braaten will be on to discuss some issues that are facing Americans today with regard to national security, but also the impact of illegal immigration, the realities of US trade and competition in the global marketplace, and family preparedness and crisis response.

You don't want to miss this episode! We'll see you there.
